A Museum That Redefines the Learning Experience
The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands has undergone a transformative evolution, culminating in a comprehensive rebranding in 2025 that introduced the tagline “See New Possibilities.” This shift signals a deliberate move from being an institution that merely unites art, science, and technology to becoming a cultural vanguard that shapes how people engage with the world around them.
For educational tourists, the museum’s flagship permanent exhibition, teamLab Future World: Where Art Meets Science, represents the gold standard of interactive learning. Featuring 16 unique digital installations created in collaboration with the renowned Japanese art collective teamLab, this exhibition invites visitors to become active participants rather than passive observers. The newly reimagined experience includes the global debut of the Light Sculpture with Paper Airplane, where visitors can launch a paper plane and watch it transform into a dazzling spectacle of light and sound.
ArtScience Laboratory: A Hub for Hands-On Discovery
In February 2025, the museum opened the ArtScience Laboratory, a 360-square-metre facility spanning three flexible zones—Launch Pad, Media Lab, and Ripple Room—designed explicitly for hands-on discovery and experimentation. Open to children, students, educators, and families, the Laboratory offers ticketed programmes encompassing creative workshops, engineering explorations, sustainability initiatives, and wellness sessions.
The museum’s commitment to education is quantifiable: since opening, more than 240,000 students in Singapore have participated in its programmes, a figure that continues to grow as demand for STEAM learning accelerates.
Interactive Installations That Teach Through Wonder
The continuous evolution of teamLab Future World ensures that no two visits are identical. The Continuous Life and Death installation responds to visitor movements, following real-time seasonal cycles and the life cycles of flowers. As the museum explains, the artwork is not a pre-recorded image played on repeat; it is generated by computer programs in real-time, meaning that every visual display is unique and can never be replicated.
For families with young children, Sketch Town offers a particularly engaging experience: children design their own sea creatures, which are then scanned and projected into a giant aquarium, swimming alongside creations by other visitors. This collaborative dimension transforms individual creativity into a shared digital ecosystem.
Current and Upcoming Exhibitions
The museum’s 2026 calendar includes Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath, a world-premiere collaboration with OceanX that takes visitors from sunlit surface waters to the darkest ocean depths, featuring interactive activities developed alongside scientific research from the National University of Singapore. Flesh Bones: The Art of Anatomy explores anatomy as a language bridging art and science, examining the body as a vehicle for healing and a mirror of the universe.
